 | Mountaineer Jake Norton in Crested Butte next week On Friday, February 16, the Crested Butte Ski & Snowboard Club will bring mountaineer Jake Norton to the Crested Butte Center for the Arts to present his slideshow and lecture. The evening will begin with a silent auction and refreshments at 6 p.m., with a wide array of auction items ranging from limited edition K2 skis from Kim Reichelm to Property-Management-for-a-Year with Custom Property Management, from artwork by local painter Joyce Lamb to wine tasting with Judy Byron. Proceeds from the eclectic auction will benefit the youth of the Gunnison Valley’s oldest non-profit ski club. At 7 p.m. the evening will switch focus to Norton’s presentation. Norton has been working as a professional mountain guide and photographer for over twelve years. His assignments have taken him to Nepal, Tibet, South Africa, Costa Rica, and Iceland, and he was also a videographer on Everest in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Norton has taken his experiences on Everest and elsewhere throughout the world and incorporated them into spectacular, multi-media keynote presentations to inspire, motivate, and encourage his audiences to climb their personal and professional summits. Come support the Crested Butte Ski & Snowboard Club. Tickets will be $25 at the door for adults and $15 for kids 17 and under. For additional information, please e-mail the ski club office at cbssc@netzero.net or call Amy at 349-0543 or Dolly at 349-2620.
